SBBC for 2010

Dear SBBC Friends -

I think I should post something about next year and the SBBC - there will be no SBBC 2010. I have enjoyed organizing this great group of for the last two years and feel that there should be a break of a year and a reevaluation for 2011. If you have any ideas or suggestions for a better SBBC you can post here or just send me an email.

Thank you Edgar!

I received a great birthday gift from Edgar today! He stitched me a "Sheep" from the Prairie Schooler and mounted in into a beautiful wooden box. The box was full of lovely things: a pair of scissors, a California Impressions magnet, Poppy seeds, aromatherapy body lotion, cute fabric for finishing and some delicious Godiva chocolate. Thank you Edgar so much! This was a perfect gift!

And I'd like to add another thanks to Edgar for being my Angel stitcher since my original partner disappeared and I didn't receive a package on my birthday on September. I know you are very busy and I am happy that you found time to put together such a wonderful gift for me. It was well worth the wait! :)

A package from Rachel arrived safely

Yesterday the mail man brought me a box - all the way from USA. Rachel stitched me a beautiful little pincushion in my favourite shades of blue and in a pattern I had long wanted! Not only that - there was a piece of fabric, some floss, a chart, pins and a couple of cute little memo pads. Many thanks Rachel. This was a lovely surprise to come home to after a hard day at work. I really appreciated the greetings in your card. Hope your baby arrives safely.

Just look at the fantastic birthday exchange I received from Leena. I love my little stitched catkin. Inside are lots of great buttons and rose bows. Leena also sent a cute chart, some great Bohin scissors that don't show up well in the snap, fabric and trim, and a notepad. All these goodies were packed in the pretty tin, which will no doubt hold lots of my stash. Again, thank you so much Leena!

Thank you Srinity!

Look at this lovely package that arrived from Srinity in Finland! I LOVE IT!!! Christmas Row by Bent Creek is a pattern that I wanted to stitch for myself someday and now I don't have to. Plus, she made it into a wonderful wallhanging that I cannot wait to put on the wall this Christmas.

She included some other treats as well: fabric, CHOCOLATE, Red Thread pattern off my wishlist, thread holders, a kitty ornament, and some very cute scissors which immediately went into service. This was a wonderful treat for me! Thank you very much!

P.S. Did I mention the chocolate was scrumptious?

Birthday Exchange Received

I received my birthday exchange from Judith in the Netherlands today. She stitched a Spring design that she quilted into a project pocket. This will come in very handy to keep my threads and scissors for small projects. I love it! She also sent generous cuts of linen which will be useful for future projects.

A certain birthday package went out in the mail today. I will be heading for Arizona soon and wanted to make sure this package was on it's way before I left. I know it is early. Let's see if she will wait or open it right away lol.

Sorry I'm late but I have been away and just got back this afternoon, so a picture will follow, but I wanted Melissa to know that her most wonderful, wonderful parcel had arrived safely and that I love everything - I will take photos in a bit and put them on for you all to see.

A birthday gift from Stephanie

This year I received my gift from Stephanie in England. It arrived well before my birthday but I didn't get to the post office to pick it up until after I came back home from my trip to London. I got quite excited on my way back home from the post office seeing the return address on the big box was Stephanie's. I had sent her an crazy exchange once and the return exchange she sent back was so beautifully stitched and finished.

Once I opened my gift I was in for a special surprise. I couldn't believe my own eyes, the box was filled with lots of small packets, everything wrapped individually. And whow, Stephanie well and truly spoiled me at my birthday, so many stitching treats.

Stephanie had stitched me not one but 5 items. She chose to stitch from Autumn Leaves by the Prairie Schooler. She made me a beautiful pinkeep, a needlebook, a scissor fob and two thread keepers. Everything is so beautifully stitched and finished, those items are just perfect. Here is a picture of the stitched items.


And the box was filled with extra goodies. I received 2 lovely fabric pieces, 2 pieces of cotton fabric for finishing and another piece of fleece fabric. Some monster magnets, 2 blocks of chocolate, lots of ribbons, a lovely orange thread, some thicker ribbons, some pins for finishing, metal rings, a beautiful floral box that I put my ribbons in. And lots of balloons, some birthday candles and confetti. Here is a picture.


And this wasn't all as Stephanie also sent me 3 patterns from my wish list. Alphabeth Pumpkin by JBW Designs, Christmas Biscornu by Just Nan and Where Stitchers Gather by The Victoria Sampler. And she also sent the threads and embellishments needed for Where Stitchers Gather.


Words can't really describe the feeling I felt when I had opened all my gifts and saw all this stitching stash sitting in front of me. I was overwhelmed, thank you ever so much Stephanie. You have made my birthday very special this year and I wish I could give you a hug and thank you properly. I really love my birthday gift from you, I am truly being spoiled by you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Birthday Exchange Mailed... Twice

I sent my package off to my partner some time ago, but it came back because I coppied the address incorrectly. Silly me! I just finished repackaging and adding goodies and am off to the post office as we speak (don't worry, hubby is driving). I hate to spoil the suprise, but I don't want for my partner to think that I forgot. Happy Birthday dear Tracy, enjoy your day!

I received a package in the mail today from Anna S. I read her post yesterday so I knew what it was. Now, I could wait a few days, maybe, but there is no way I could wait 3+ weeks. So...I opened it.

OMG! It was wonderful. Anna, you really checked me out because everything is so me.

First there was this...


It is so beautiful. The stitching and the finishing. And, it is purple. WOW. Then, there was all of this...


A very cute pattern of pumpkins, pink fabric--love this--great for my pink stitches, lots of purple threads--2 different silks, Weeks, Sampler Threads, Crescent Colors and Impressions. Great colors. And, a hedgehog. He is so cute!

I probably should have waited but I just couldn't and since I was having kind of a blah day, I thought why not.

Gift in the mail

Well, I opened my mailbox yesterday and to my surprise and delight this lovely package was in the box. My birthday gift from Ulla.
Ulla included some lovely fabrics, napkins, floss winders, olive scented candles (they are wonderful) and a French pattern of my initial. The card was just too cute. The licorice sticks at the top of the photo quickly disappeared into my DH's stomach - he LOVES licorice.

Early gift from Margaret arrived!!

I received the most wonderful exchange from Margaret yesterday!
Look at this gorgeous tin she made me. I was so surprised when this
arrived. My Birthday isn't until September 4th-so I wasn't expecting
it so soon. As soon as I unwrapped the maling wrapper, I saw coffee
themed fabric and then I had an idea what it was. She must have read
my blog to find out that I LOVE coffee because most everything inside
the tin is coffee themed! thanks so much Margaret, I love everything!

Birthday gifts received!

Last week I received an early birthday gift from Becky K. She told me she wasn't sure how much time it will take for the package to travel from USA to Peru so she sent it early that way I would receive it on time for my birthday :) She made a beautiful pinkeep with a Lizzie Kate design (August block) and she included great goodies in her package (a chart from my wish list, a cute little pair of scissors, rings, a highlighter and a some fabric)

I received this really nice birthday parcel from Gwen last week! I had to squish everything onto a windowsill to photograph it because the weather was so poor here (dark and rainy) - so nothing looks as good here as it does in person! She stitched me a cute little mattress pincushion... and look at all the treats!

hiya all a very big thankyou for the wonderful gift i received off of Nic from http://beebarfsblog.blogspot.com/ (a girl as mad as birds.). lol the pyn keepe is wonderful and this is the first one i have of these so i really want to try and make one myself.. and the wonderful pin cushion.. the embroidery is brill. I also recieved several charts a foldup pair of scissors magnet and some hand dyed thread.. mm wonder what i am going to use that decisions decisions..

Edda is the best!

Look at all the wonderful things I received in my birthday package from Edda!

I actually received two packages, one including her handiwork (the biscornu, pin cushion, and scissor fob) with the scissors and two cross stitch patterns that I have been wanting. She then had another package sent from 123 Stitch that included the needles, thread and ANOTHER pattern that I absolutely love. How cool is that??!!!!

Her stitching is divine and I will treasure all the wonderful things she sent. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am so grateful for your kindness and generosity.

My Birthday goodies!

Look what came in the mail for me. I saw the return address from Down Sunshine Lane and thought, I didn't order anything, well I just had to open it. Inside was a cute SB pattern Flag. Plus some needles, hurray for that. I had lost my last needle, couldn't find it. Here's hoping that John's feet don't find it! And a new floss color, the note just said SBBC from Heather MacKenzie Enjoy! Which I most certainly will. I am a big patriotic nut! You become one when you have family in the military! Sorry to let you know this late, but I just got home from a week's holiday and my birthday package was here waiting for me... I had such a great time opening all the gifts:

- bath salt (white tea and ginger; ginger should be good for my RA)

the loveliest pinkeep!!! The pattern is from the Crown & Thistle Quaker Seasons Purse and it is so pretty with the matching fabric, cord and ribbon!
This was my first year here, and I have enjoyed it so much! Thank you, Edgar, for all these gifts!!

I got this lovely package through the post today. It was my birthday on the 4th but I went away that day and missed the post. Tracy stitched this lovely biscornu - her first! Well done Tracy - it's perfect. She also sent me some lovely goodies too. Thanks so much Tracy - Love it.

Birthday package from Carla

See the wonderful pillow and all the super goodies I received from Carla all the way from Peru!!

First, the pillow... absolutely awesome finishing, the result is soooo very sweet and cheerful, with assorted beads all around! It is a pattern I didn't have but so wanted to, and here I get it already finished into such a lovely decorative item! I love it, Carla!

And then, the goodies... Fantastic linen from Enchanted Fabrics, a company I didn't know, two other pieces of very lovely fabrics, lots and lots of variegated DMC floss, and a chart from my wishlist. Just wonderful!!

Birthday exchange received

I received my birthday exchange from Edgar yesterday. Edgar stitched a design from Ewe & Eye & Friends called Garden Gate Hare and finished it to the top of a box.

Edgar also included a pattern from my wish list and some lavender soap, flower seeds and magnet and notebook. Thank you Edgar.

I would just like to add that Edgar was good enough to send me this exchange because my original partner who claimed the package was mailed did not come through. My birthday was last March and I was hoping that my exchange would have made it to me, but apparently it was lost in the mail and for whatever reason my partner felt her responsibility was done as soon as she mailed it. So thanks again Edgar for sending me a great birthday package.

the gorgeous parcel of goodies that Hazel sent me for my birthday.

The stitched piece is from "Thank you Sarah Tobias" BB Designs and she made some lovely thread holders with the backing fabric she used. Stitched on 40ct linen using Threadworx thread. Oh and the goodies are wonderful, the chocolates are heavenly, I'm about to guzzle down one of those hot choccies (perfect as its raining here today) and some gorgeous Dragon Floss made in Wales, UK.

My favourite surprise though has to be the two charts Hazel sent me from my wishlist, The Gathering Place - Rabbit Run & The Sampler Girl - Rain in the Country.

Lovely gift from Carol S received!

Carol was my partner -- how happy am I?! She stitched the Bianca Scissor Pocket by Cat's Whiskers Designs on 32 ct. White Belfast with Caron Waterlilies in Hyacinth and Moss. It is so delicate and delightful -- I love it! She also sent along some DMC scissors, a big piece of hand dyed lugana, a fat quarter, some pins and pretty purple ribbon, and a La-D-Da freebie. Thank you so much, Carol!

Lisa (SBBC) sent me a Christmas package, and I love it! She stitched me a deer from Prairie Schooler, Cranberry Christmas, and finished it as a hanging pillow. She added some great goodies: a piece of white 22 count aida, floss rings, ribbon an cord, a keyring that can be used to put something small in it, and Kreinik blending filament, blue. Hello all - it came! And I love it!! The lovely Diane stitched me not just one, but SIX separate birthday gifts - a whole set of smalls! I absolutely love them - Diane hope you got my (rather gushing) email :)
